Summary
 
The role of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Coordinator is to advance the AIS STEAM vision, initiatives, practices, opportunities and achievements, in partnership with academic leadership, faculty 3K-12, and the wider community.

 

Salary and Workload:
 
The salary range for this position is competitive and defined by the Faculty Salary Scale, with an additional Leadership Responsibility Allowance. This role is part of the Academic Leadership and STEAM Teams.

 

Reports to: Head of Research and Learning Design
Division: 3K-12

Essential Duties and Key Responsibility Areas:
  • Develop and enhance STEAM programming, innovation and entrepreneurial experiences for students, in partnership with colleagues and the wider community
  • Collaborate with colleagues in IB continuum curriculum design with a focus on enhancing transdisciplinary, interdisciplinary, inquiry and real-world learning and connections.
  • Coach and mentor faculty as designers of inquiry-based, STEAM-driven learning experiences within our IB framework
  • Lead, develop, coordinate and communicate professional learning to advance STEAM-enhanced teaching and learning, in partnership with STEAM colleagues and academic leaders
  • Lead, develop, coordinate and communicate STEAM co-curricular programs in secondary school, in partnership with the Head of Educational Technology and STEAM colleagues
  • Coordinate, communicate and support STEAM co-curricular programs in Primary School, in partnership with STEAM colleagues
  • Use and model approaches such as design thinking, lean startup, agile methodology and other innovation frameworks to develop and implement all aspects of work, and catalyze innovative thinking across all stakeholders
  • Develop metrics and lead communication of STEAM-based initiatives, opportunities, and accomplishments to students, colleagues, parents and the wider community
  • Teach secondary classes in a STEAM-related discipline
  • Coordinate the DaVinci Fellows program to enhance inquiry learning in the IB, and to advance authentic STEAM learning and experiences for students and the wider AIS community
  • Lead, communicate and coordinate the STEM and STEAM Diploma endorsement and internship programs in Secondary School
  • Liaise with the Parent Organization STEAM Team in their work and initiatives to support STEAM learning and initiatives at AIS
  • Build and maintain relationships among STEAM leaders in international schools and community partners in STEAM industries, innovation and entrepreneurship in the Atlanta-area and beyond
  • Continuously develop as a STEAM practitioner and teacher-leader; maintain knowledge of the range of STEAM approaches, opportunities, and resources in order to advance the STEAM vision, experiences, engagement and learning practices across the school

  • Skill in developing and leveraging community partnerships and engaging expertise across industries and sectors

 

Minimum requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree, or higher, in a subject group related field.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in a representative blend of technology, engineering, science, arts, computer science and/or an education-related field.
  • Experience leading diverse teams to develop and implement organizational initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability, desire and commitment to work collaboratively with the community of Atlanta International School and in the wider community locally, nationally, and internationally
