Gann Academy seeks an enthusiastic and experienced candidate to support the school’s curriculum by promoting information literacy, providing a library setting conducive to active and participatory learning and resource-based instructional practices. This is a one-year position for the academic year 2016-2017.
 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

General Duties

• Researching, developing, communicating, and executing all policies and procedures related to the library including but not limited to materials selection, circulation, reconsideration of materials, copyright, privacy, acceptable use, and managing and maintaining the library space and student supervision;
• Collaborating with teaching faculty and educators to build and strengthen connections between student information and research needs, curricular content, learning outcomes, and information resources;
• Managing, updating, and expanding the library’s collection.
 

Community & Student Responsibilities

• Serving as an advisor of a club or the equivalent;
• Taking part in communal programs outside the classroom including but not limited to Hakhel (announcements gathering), Limud Clali (community and grade programs), Shiur Clali (communal lecture), and other special programs during school hours;
• Attend/participate in open house, graduation, and other special events which may take place in the evenings and/or weekends.
 

Administrative Responsibilities

• Monitoring the library budget in conjunction with the Assistant Head of School;
• Engaging in strategic planning and budgeting for future library needs and growth;
• Supervising those who are covering the library, as needed.
• Working with Academic Council/Department Heads to inform them of new resources and to support each department’s research efforts, needs and programs;
• Attending local, regional, and national conferences, seminars, training programs, and other professional development opportunities as determined by the Assistant Head of School;
• Attending all faculty and staff meetings including weekly faculty meetings, department meetings, Academic Council, faculty work day programs, and in-service training;
• Keeping records of correspondence with parents, records of teaching practice, and student work;
• Taking and recording attendance, preparing and filing reports, and letters as required and directed by School Administration;
• Performing other administrative or educational duties as assigned by the Assistant Head of School or his designee.

• Ability to work with wide range of people—students, parents, faculty, staff, vendors, and donors
• Excellent customer service skills; ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
• Fluent in English Language
 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL SET REQUIREMENTS

• Possess strong computer skills including working knowledge of MS Office Suite: Excel, Word, Publisher
• Ability to prioritize a number of projects, assimilating information with accuracy and consistent attention to detail
• Self-starter with excellent decision-making capabilities
• Possess effective written/oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills working within a team environment
 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Computer proficiency required
• M.A. in Library and Information Science
• Experience working with young adults in a library or educational setting
