I.T. Associates perform moderately complex professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Associates work in areas such as development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include resolving complex technology problems and serving as a technical resource. They have considerable latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may have supervisory responsibilities.

I.T. Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology- related disciplines.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION:

Key responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:

Leads a wide range of projects including application development, software and hardware deployment or decommission, and implementations of off-the-shelf and custom software.

Acts as an analyst documenting business requirements and/or technical solutions and designs.

Financial Management and Budgeting assistance for IRT division budgets and Student Technology Fee budgets utilizing BMCC five year budget model.

Develops ongoing use of project plans including baseline targets and forecasted tasks.

Executes projects in accordance with agreed schedule, budget, and scope.

Reports on variances to the approved project baseline and serves as the liaison for problem resolution and escalation to senior management.

Schedules, directs, and documents project team meetings.

Identifies, tracks and champions closure of project issues, risks, and change requests.

Communicates with project stakeholders including sponsors, steering committees, and user community members.

Manages the coordination of testing and training activities, and quality assurance reviews.

Develops milestone charts, dashboards, and project team reports for senior management.

Review Request for Change (RFC) for production systems and document Configuration Management (CM) requests.

Document Requisition and Purchase Order information for the Division.

Build and maintain documented procedures; review and document IT outage reports.

Work closely with Business Analysts regarding purchasing and budgets.

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent

An equivalent of seven years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: seven years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus five years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology- related position; a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus three years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position

Demonstrated English Language proficiency

A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.

This job has three levels. To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.

The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Ability to articulate needs and possess strong interpersonal skills to build exceptional rapport with College stakeholders including technical staff, administrators, faculty and students.

Ability to champion ideas and solutions, multitask under tight deadlines, and work in an environment with competing priorities.

Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to communicate and lead a project's vision through delegation and arbitration of conflicting goals while working collaboratively with the IRT team.

Experience working in a college/university environment.

Integrity and adherence to the ethical standards of the PMI Professional Code of Conduct.

Knowledge and proficiency in system development life cycle (SDLC) methods and processes.

Of the seven years of minimum experience required, three of those years must be related to the job duties above, including direct involvement in managing large IT projects.

Outstanding communication skills with the ability to facilitate group discussions and communications.

Proficiency with all Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint with a high degree of expertise in Microsoft Project.

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.

Technical understanding of SharePoint, Microsoft AD, firewall technology, network technology.

Working knowledge and experience using PMI PMBOK standards.
