Job Description

Ohio University’s Office of Information Technology is seeking a dependable and energetic business analyst who values team work to join the Project Management team.

You will be responsible for collaborating with leaders, subject matter experts, end users and technical staff to identify and understand business needs, research solutions, present your findings and help implement the chosen solution. You will have the opportunity to help the overall efficiency of the university by providing excellent analytical insight to members of the university community.

To be successful in this position, you will need to be a results-oriented self-starter who is attentive, has excellent communication skills, enjoys challenges and is able to set and meet deadlines. You will need to have a Bachelor’s Degree in a technology-related field, business, communication or equivalent experience and at least three years of demonstrated experience in business analysis and/or project management.

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking an IT Business Analyst II to perform business analysis and conceptual solution design of medium sized, moderately complex IT projects. Collaborate with leaders, subject matter experts, end users and technical staff to identify and understand business needs, design possible technology solutions and help implement and transition chosen solutions. The IT Business Analyst II is responsible for eliciting and documenting business requirements and creating appropriate business analysis documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Analysis of moderately complex IT project requests 

  • Performing background research on proposed product or solution 

  • Contacting vendors for references and/or discovery 

  • Developing and documenting functional and technical requirements working with IT professionals, subject matter experts, and clients 

  • Participating in vendor RFI and RFP processes 

  • Proposing technical plans that are aligned with business objectives and technical requirements 

  • Working with IT resource managers and service owners to establish statements of work with effort estimates and project costs 

  • Summarizing and presenting solution alternatives with their associated costs and make recommendations based on the business and technical needs 

  • Producing business analysis deliverables for medium-sized, moderately complex projects such as: SWOT analysis, cost benefit analysis, return on investment, feature/gap analysis, feasibility analysis 

  • Assisting clients in creating business case and funding proposals 

  • Identifying business process bottlenecks and recommend process improvements 

  • Develop, document and execute test plans 

Minimum Qualifications

Candidate must have earned Bachelor’s Degree in a technology-related field, business, communication or related field and at least three years of demonstrated experience in business analysis and/or project management.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of business analysis concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use in varied situations; 
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Experience working with custom applications, ERPs and/or third party vendors; 
Experience working on Agile project teams; 
BABOK certification

Pay Rate

$52,000 to $63,000 depending on candidate’s experience and qualification. Employees also enjoy a generous benefits package including health benefits, paid time off, and education benefits for employees and qualified dependents.
