Madison Country Day School, a PreK-12 International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, is searching for an engaging and highly motivated person to partner closely with the technology integration specialist as the school’s IT Generalist.

Applicants should possess not just a love of all things IT but also a love of working in an educational environment and the desire to advance both an evolving school and their own professional expertise. The IT Generalist administrator role requires team collaboration in order to successfully manage all aspects of the MCDS IT infrastructure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build, support, and maintain servers and workstations for use on the network.

  • Build, support, and maintain LAN/WAN hardware and associated network devices, including switches, routers, firewalls, and filter appliances.

  • Diagnose and resolve software, hardware, and connectivity issues on the network.

  • Provide end-user support, when needed, and maintain related records.

  • Assist with hardware, software, setup and support for school events and programs such as standardized testing.

  • Complete and update the network equipment inventory and appropriate network documentation.

  • Share technology knowledge with staff, when appropriate.

  • Maintain an appropriate knowledge level of operating systems and application software being used to provide high levels of support to users.

  • Create and maintain overall security to the District network and cloud systems.

  • Create and maintain overall security to servers, workstations, and other district equipment.

  • Install new applications or hardware on the network, coordinating assistance from third parties, if needed.

  • Maintain and check backups, bandwidth use, antivirus server, wireless controller, firewall, email archiving, content filter, etc.

  • Keep current with revisions and upgrades as they relate to network systems.

  • Request quotes for district hardware, software, and systems.

  • Manage and maintain school Chromebooks from cradle to grave. This includes provisioning, repair, warranty, de-provisioning, and recycling.

  • Assist with the wiring projects, pulling cable, making patch cords, as this relates to ethernet and telephony connectivity.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of network systems so other IT Team members can perform duties if needed.

  • Assist with developing procedures, maintaining records, and recommending purchases for the network.

  • Develop the annual technology budget, priorities, and timelines.

  • Manage Google for Education platform in coordination with the technology integration specialist.

  • Support the MCDS School-wide Student Information System on the Blackbaud platform in coordination with the system administrators.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have familiarity and/or expertise with the vendor-specific certifications below:

    • Google Cloud Certified - G Suite Administrator

    • CompTIA A+ Certification

    • CompTIA Network+ Certification

    • CompTIA Security+ Certification

    • CompTIAServer+

    • Cisco CCNA Certification

    • Cisco CCNP Certification

    • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

    • Apple Certified Associate – Mac Integration Basics 10.13

    • MCSA: Windows Server 2012 and 2016

    • Red Hat: RHCSA and RHCE

  • Have at least 2-4+ years of experience in systems and/or network administration

  • Have at least 3 years experience in G suite

  • Have at least 2 years experience using SCCM

  • Have an impressive ability to think critically and creatively

  • Have a sense of humor and have strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

  • Have strong time and project management skills

  • Thrive in a fast-paced working environment

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
