Position Summary

University Information Technology Services (UITS), within the University of Arizona, is seeking an IT Program Leader that will lead aspects of the program to implement an enterprise Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Student and Academic Technologies, the IT Program Leader facilitates project delivery in a highly collaborative, complex organizational context by negotiating priorities, orchestrating team communications and process, navigating organizational boundaries to address external dependencies, and breaking down barriers. The IT Program Leader thinks beyond timeline, budget, and scope to envision and deliver high-value outcomes through the enterprise CRM program. Building off of strong relationships built through the course of developing the strategic plan, the IT Program leader connects to other initiative owners and partner organizational leadership to understand core strategies and needs that should be enabled through the CRM program.

The successful applicant will be a politically savvy project leader with demonstrated success managing large components of an enterprise ERPor CRM implementation in an organizational culture of distributed leadership.

This is a project funded, three-year position with potential for continuation pending ongoing funding.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Leads major components of the enterprise CRM program.

  • Creates project charters, lessons learned, close-out reports, and other project management artifacts.

  • Encourages interaction and the exchange of ideas, concerns, and proposals among departments to facilitate solutions to problems. Works with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems.

  • Builds relationships with leaders and staff in partner organizations, resulting in a strong understanding of those partners needs and greater sense of collaboration and trust.

  • Facilitates continuous improvement of project methodologies.

  • Negotiates scope, timeline, and project delivery approaches with functional partners, team members, and project sponsors, with an eye toward maximizing value and outcomes.

  • Manages and negotiates project staffing and resourcing with internal UA managers and vendor partners.

  • Manages vendor statements of work and deliverables within the overall context of the project.

  • Communicates clearly and with the appropriate level of detail within all levels of the organization, including executive leadership.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities 
  • Demonstrated success managing large aspects of an enterprise ERP or CRM implementation.

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively as part of a cross functional team representing different areas of expertise.

  • Experience leading technical initiatives in a collaborative environment.

  • Knowledge of current project management best practices (lean/agile methodologies preferred).

  • Strong facilitation and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish credibility with executive leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

Six years of progressively responsible information technology project management experience; OR,
Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computing Information Technology or related field AND three years of progressively responsible information technology project management experience OR,
Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with lean/agile project methodologies.

  • Experience with user-centered design or design thinking methodologies.

  • Experience working in a higher-education, academic environment.
