ontcrest School is a dynamic JK - Grade 8 school, founded in 1961, and located at Broadview and Danforth in Toronto. We have a rich history and are in the midst of dynamic changes, fulfilling our visionary strategic plan.

We are seeking an IT Technician to work with our IT Administrator to support the 300+ students, and the 50+ faculty and staff in our primary Mac IT context. Our technology use both in and outside the classroom has grown rapidly, and we continue to find new ways to use it to enrich the learning for our students, and our operations.

You are a team player, with strong communication skills and an ability to multi-task and juggle sometimes competing priorities. You are highly responsive to the needs of the users you serve, and can relate to and work with people of all ages and learning abilities.

Specific Responsibilities will include:

- Responding to daily requirements for support by teachers and students in the classroom, and for non-teaching staff around the school

- Troubleshooting hardware, software and peopleware issues

- Assist Network/IT Administrator with major projects, issues

- Perform annual hardware and software updates

- Support classroom-specific activities including our iSTEAM projects

- Provide technology support at school events

 

Qualifications and Experience Required:

• Post-secondary training in computer science or related field

• Apple Certified Macintosh Technician (ACMT) Certification

• Minimum of 3 years related experience

• Experience using Apple Service and Support products and practices in repairing Apple hardware

• Understanding of OS X core functionality and the ability to configure key services such as:

User Accounts
File Systems
Data Management
Applications and processes
Network configuration and Network Services
Peripherals and printing
System start-up
Experience in a school environment would be an asset.
