POSITION SUMMARY:

The Junior IT Support Technician reports directly to the Associate Director of (LIT) Learning, Innovation and Technology and collaborates with Senior IT Support and Help Desk Coordinator to directly support the daily operational goals of the Junior School Campus. This position is in place to provide back-up, cross-training,  succession planning support for all of York School daily support and service/repair needs.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Support the daily operation and triage of the York School Help Desk ticketing system to ensure timely and responsive support of the Junior School staff.

  • Support the daily documentation, processing and communication of all device repair issues in collaboration with the York School repair & support partners (HORN IT, Apple) to ensure efficient and timely turn-around on all service and repair tickets.

  • Set Up, maintain and troubleshoot the Junior School iPad fleet including upgrades, app management, sign-out, charging, etc..

  • Assisting staff and students with both hardware and software issues on a one-to-one and group basis.

  • Assisting with maintenance of school hardware, peripherals, and audio-visual equipment as required.

  • Assisting with audio-visual support (parent & student events), including occasional after-hour events.

  • Setup and maintenance of desktop hardware, software and associated peripherals e.g. printers, scanners

  • Ensuring that the Equipment Database is kept up-to-date with both new acquisitions and repairs/maintenance of all equipment & laptops.

  • Working with LIT team members to enhance the school’s technology programme and provide technical assistance to administration, faculty and students as needed.

  • Attending regular meetings of the LIT department.

  • Share responsibility for the management of all store-room equipment and loaned devices

  • Procurement, preparation, imaging, inventory, deployment, and maintenance, of all staff and faculty hardware assignments.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Related degree, diploma or other relevant training

  • 1-2 years experience in an IT setting

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Be flexible and adaptable to new situations.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to use good judgment and effective problem solving skills

  • Positive and collaborative team member

  • Well versed in GSuite for Education tools such as drive, docs, calendar and groups

  • Experience supporting devices in a Mac OS, Windows, Chrome OS, and iOS environment

  • Experience supporting TCP/IP networks, LAN/WAN design and administration, and wireless networking is desirable

  • Experience with Software deployment tools such as MDM, Munki, Jamf, and Azure Desktop.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of people in a professional manner
