Atlanta Girls’ School (AGS) is the only independent, college-preparatory day school for girls in Atlanta. Currently, we serve girls in grades 6 through 12 and have an enrollment of 260 students.  Although only 15 years old, AGS has authentically lived its mission by providing a challenging college-preparatory program in a learning environment designed to foster the full potential of each student and to enable her to become a vital contributor to our complex global society.

Position Overview                                                          Essential Employee

The IT Systems Manager is a crucial member of any successful independent school’s Business Office team.  The IT Systems Manager oversees the mission-critical operation of the school’s technology infrastructure so that the organization can expend the bulk of its energy on programs for its students.  The professional in this full-time position must look holistically at IT’s role at AGS and recognizes that her/his work supports student education, provides pipelines for internal and external communication, ensures secure storage for sensitive data, supports the infrastructure that provides building security, and enables faculty and administration to carry out their work.  The IT Systems Manager works in tandem with the STEAM Coordinator and cooperatively with others in the school community to accomplish the organization’s goals.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Area of Responsibility:  Network

Responsibilities:

  • Configuration of the Apple open directory and network accounts
    • Maintenance and support of the Open Directory server
  • Configuration and maintenance of the Windows-based network
  • Maintenance and support of the Aerohive wireless network
  • Configuration and maintenance of the network security appliances including the firewall, internet filters, and spam filters
  • Support and maintenance of all network cabling and devices
  • Maintenance of server room
  • Maintenance and support of the telecom systems
  • Maintenance and support of the building access and security systems

Area of Responsibility:  Software, Databases & Data

Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and support of key databases and applications (both local and SAAS) including Raiser’s Edge, QuickBooks, PowerSchool, Haiku, and Google Apps for Education
  • Maintenance and support of mobile device management software
  • Responsibility for backup of all databases and application data – both local and SAAS
  • Primary responsibility for data recovery and re-build of systems in the event of a disaster

Area of Responsibility:  Hardware & Audio Visual

Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintenance of school-owned laptops, desktops, printers, projectors, copiers, Apple TV’s, monitors, and audio systems
  • Event oversight:  set-up and operation of audio, video, and projection systems as needed

Area of Responsibility:  Purchasing

Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of primary vendor relationships with telecom, printers, Apple hardware and software, PC hardware and software, repair facilities

Area of Responsibility:  Help Desk

Responsibilities:

  • Management of and oversight of Help Desk support operations and staff
  • On-call emergency support as needed

Area of Responsibility:  System Planning & Other Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration with Director of Finance and Operations and STEAM Coordinator on hardware and software system architecture, design, installation, and deployment of new or upgraded systems and software
  • Project management of installations and upgrades
  • Other duties as assigned
