Far Hills Country Day School has an innovative curriculum designed with the goal of providing each child brilliant beginnings for success in the modern world. This is an exciting, fast-paced position with lots of opportunity for learning and growth. It is a full-time, 12-month position reporting to the Technology Director.

The IT Systems/Support Specialist helps ensure the smooth operation of the school’s technology program, providing direct technical support to students, faculty, and staff. The Technology Office is responsible for all educational and business technology services, client machines, peripherals, loaner equipment, audio/visual equipment, phones, copiers, servers, networking, and backup and recovery. The Technology Department also supports technology integration across the PK-8 student curriculum. PK-2 students' learning is supported by a 1-to-world iPad program. Students in grades 3-8 are part of the 1-to-world Chromebook experience. Teachers have primarily Mac laptops, and administrative/staff offices are primarily Windows machines.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary daily, in-person technical support for the Student Help Desk.

  • Provide technical support to all end-users (including faculty and staff).

  • Ensure proper operation of laptops, peripherals, and software/drivers.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware, software, and connectivity issues. Return equipment to service.

  • Maintain Mobile Device Management (MDM) and documentation.

  • Monitor Firewall/Network function as well as patch and security update needs.

  • Support multiple aspects of SIS/LMS database, Educational Technology Programs, Website.

  • Support technology professional development efforts, including training and documentation.

  • Support school events with equipment setup/takedown and troubleshooting.

  • Support the Technology Booth of the Performing Arts Center.

  • Maintain current inventory of laptops and peripherals.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Skill Set

  • Experience with a range of software and operating systems in an education environment, including MacOS, Google Suite for Education, Google Admin, Windows, Microsoft Office, iOS, Meraki Full Stack, Active Directory and emerging technologies.

  • Experience with database administration.

  • Experience with Network and Systems support and configuration.

  • Excellent communication, customer service, and collaboration skills.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Detail-oriented management of multiple projects and day-to-day tasks.

  • Ability to work well both independently and as a member of a team.

  • Sense of humor, flexibility, calm under pressure, openness to new ideas, initiative, and resourcefulness.

Education and/or Experience

  • 1-2 years as an IT Support, Network or Systems Support Specialist in an educational environment is highly preferred.

  • Degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent.

  • Applicable Certifications a plus: Apple Certified (ACMT), MCSE, Meraki Network Operator, Google Administrator or willingness to be certified.
