Old Dominion University Libraries invites applications and nominations for the position of Libraries Enterprise System Administrator. The Libraries Enterprise System Administrator will play a key role in optimizing enterprise systems, including Alma/Primo, ILLiad, EZproxy, to enable quality user services and efficient workflow.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Systems Development, this position is responsible for administering, configuring, troubleshooting, and coordinating the support of the Libraries’ enterprise systems, to include Alma/Primo, ILLiad, EZproxy, and other systems. This position also manages the Libraries computing infrastructure of staff desktop and public access computers. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues on teams and task forces devoted to accomplishing Libraries and University goals, as well as charting a course for the future. The Libraries support and encourage continuing education, professional development, and contributions to the library profession.

  • Salary and Benefits: This is a fulltime, administrative faculty position. Beginning minimum salary is $60,000, commensurate with experience. Requirements

 

Qualifications Required:

  • ALA-accredited MLIS/MLS or another graduate degree in information technology, computer science, or other technology field
  • Ability to administer enterprise systems in a collaborative environment
  • Technical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, organizational, communication, and project management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a demanding and rapidly changing service-oriented environment
  • Ability to learn and apply new technologies independently
  • Initiative
  • Experience in system administration
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Office applications
  • Preferred:
  • Familiarity with library standards such as EAD, MARC, Dublin Core, OAI-PMH, etc.
  • Experience working in academic libraries
  • Experience managing integrated library systems and discovery services (Alma/Primo preferred)
  • Experience supporting PC and Mac hardware and software in an enterprise environment
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience as a project manager
  • Experience with scripting languages and using API’s
