Reporting to the Director of Library IT and Digital Services, Princeton University Library seeks a Library IT Project Manager to manage all aspects of digital project implementation.


  • Assist stakeholders with the development of digital and IT project proposals

  • Manage the scheduling and planning of accepted digital projects, including timelines, interdependencies, deadlines, and resources required

  • Define and help ensure acceptance criteria for projects are met

  • Communicate and maintain relationships with digitization vendors, including managing RFPs and overseeing quality control

  • Facilitate project meetings and monitor project status, providing project updates and progress reports, and troubleshooting any challenges that arise.

  • Train staff to use locally developed software, especially that which is related to digital projects.

  • Oversee batch ingest of outsourced digitization work

  • Occasionally act as a Product Owner for locally developed or customized digital library software and other special web projects

  • Help facilitate change management in relevant areas through communication with stakeholders about changes, upgrades, and planned outages

Required qualifications and experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of work experience, including at least a year of project management experience, or an equivalent combination of credentials and work experience. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. The successful candidate will work with a wide variety or technical and non-technical individuals who have different sets of skills and different amounts of professional experience.

  • Strong analytical skills; the incumbent will make decisions that may affect all aspects of projects on a regular basis.

  • Able to work in a distributed/remote, multicultural, collaborative team environment.

  • Aptitude for working on multiple large projects at once, balancing priorities, and meeting deadlines.

  • Demonstrated experience with collaborative/office tools,  e.g. Google Drive and Docs, Slack, Zoom etc.).

  • Experience with project or content management tools such as Basecamp, Confluence/Jira, Trello, Github, Libguides, 

  • Ability to maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, cultivating a professional network, and participating in relevant professional organizations (e.g. the Digital Library Federation, the International Image Interoperability Framework, Open Repositories).

Desirable experience:

  • Work experience in an academic library or other cultural heritage institution, and/or experience working with archives or special collections

  • Knowledge of protocols and metadata standards used in libraries

  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science

  • Training or certification  in one or more project management methodology, e.g. Agile/Scrum

  • Experience managing part-time student workers
