The primary role of every person at Currey Ingram Academy is to embrace and uphold the mission of our school.  As a member of the faculty, the Integrationist will serve as a role model for leadership in developing and maintaining mission-driven endeavors of Currey Ingram Academy.

 

The Integrationist works as a member of the LibTech team to assist in developing and implementing excellence for the LibTech programs of the school ensuring that students and faculty acquire and maintain a high degree of information and technology literacy. A strong level of personal knowledge regarding new developments and techniques in the fields of information science and technology is required.

 

Reporting to the Director of Libraries and Educational Technology, the Integrationist is an information, instruction and technology integration specialist who collaborates with and supports the teachers, students and administrators within the three divisions at Currey Ingram Academy.

 

The Integrationists’ responsibilities in the area of Library Media and Technology include:

  • Remaining current in professional practices and developments, including differentiated instruction, information technologies, educational research, and additional knowledge related to school library media services  

  • Contributing to the development of a K-12 curriculum map in digital and media literacy and information technology

  • Providing information literacy instruction to students by developing and delivering age-appropriate interactive lessons for electronic and print information resources

  • Evaluating, promoting, and competently using existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning, supplement school resources, connect the school with the global learning community, and provide 24/7 access to online resources and media services

  • Collaborating with the teachers to encourage and ensure the integration of information skills and technologies in the classroom in order to enhance units of study and student learning; team teaching as requested and appropriate

  • Help to maintain the Makerspace and promote and teach 3D printing, coding, as well as other Makerspace projects with classroom teachers as time allows

  • Help maintain and support apps used in classrooms (enrolling students, pushing out apps, identifying new apps for possible classroom use)

  • Teaching students effective strategies for information access, research, evaluation, citation and digital citizenship

  • Researching, selecting and recommending non-print and emerging media in support of purposeful technology usage in teaching and learning

  • Help maintain and organize educational databases on the LibTech website which are supported by the LibTech department

  • Participate on committees charged with developing and implementing long-range, strategic plans for the school

 

The Integrationist Additional Responsibilities as a LibTech team member:

  • Collaborate with LS teachers to co-teach two grade levels of LS LibTech classes weekly. These classes are focused on curriculum needs expressed by the teachers as well as teaching needed library/technology skills. These skills include Destiny, other LibTech databases and technology tools that enhance the learning process. Digital Citizenship should be modeled and explicitly taught during these class times.

  • Works with Director of Libraries and Educational Technology to staff the Learning Commons during open hours. (1-2 hours a day)

  • Takes charge of Learning Commons area when Director of Libraries and Educational Technology is not present.

  • Helps with programing for all library/technology events (book fair, author visits, STEM night, etc)

  • Helps train and supervise library volunteers

  • Shelve books and do other tasks as needed

  • Be proactive in helping to maintain appearance of the Learning Commons

 

Professional Development Responsibilities:    

  • Commitment to ongoing faculty professional development in the areas of 21st Century Learning, media, technology and related, through creating and delivering training sessions during the summer, before and after school, and at divisional and departmental meetings

  • Create and lead high-quality technology integrated lessons for a wide range of curricula areas

  • Understanding copyright, fair use, and licensing of intellectual property, and assisting the school community in the understanding and observance of these rights and responsibilities

 

Other Responsibilties:         

  • Attend grade-level, divisional and school-wide faculty meetings and all professional development training (minimum of 36 hours per school year).

  • Maintain a positive working relationship and meet weekly with the Director of Libraries and Educational Technology for planning purposes and to coordinate schedules.

  • Maintain proper CPR certification.

  • When requested, participate in K - 12 student staffings and implement personalized plans when assistive technology is needed to accommodate a student’s needs.

  • Develop and implement developmentally sound lessons that use explicit, direct instruction.

  • Prepare substitute plans for each absence.

  • Obtain approval and obtain a substitute for all absences.

  • Attend extracurricular activities as required by the Head of School, Assistant Heads of School, Director of Libraries and Educational Technology, and as stated in contract.  

  • Work collaboratively with Director of Libraries and Educational Technology as well as colleagues and school leaders.

  • Support the department and school and its leadership.

  • Contribute to maintaining an environment in which learning can take place, a school climate which is supportive, positive, and which reflects a high standard of moral character.

  • Maintain professionalism in dress, behavior and communication. Follow the guidelines as presented in the Faculty Handbook.

 

Credentials and Experience

College degree with a degree or certification in technology or library science

Three years experience in the field of educational technology

 

Hours and Schedule of Work

  • This is a 10-month position.

  • Daily work hours: 7:45 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Occasionally, changes may occur due to absences or other events)

  • This position will follow the teacher policies listed in the Faculty Handbook.

 

Additional responsibilities may later be added based on school need.
