Job Summary:

BB&N is seeking a Lower School Academic Technology Specialist. ATS responsibilities include leading the Lower School’s use of technology, professional development mentoring of the faculty, teaching, and tech support. This position is responsible for coaching and supporting the faculty in their use of technology for teaching and learning. This is accomplished by building collaborative relationships with teachers, understanding their curricular goals, and supporting their efforts at increasingly powerful uses of technology for student-centered learning. We seek an experienced educator focused on continuous improvement with contagious enthusiasm for supporting the use of technology in creative, hands-on, and inquiry-based learning. This is a full-time 10.5 month position working similar hours to the faculty, and with most school vacations off. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Qualifications:

Candidate should have classroom teaching experience and at least a Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent experience. Preference will be given to candidates with significant experience using technology resources in an educational setting and the ability to articulate a compelling, energetic, and compassionate vision for current technology use in schools. In addition, ideal candidates will demonstrate the following:

Enjoyment working with lower school aged students
Interest in building collaboration and a shared vision of technology-use among faculty
Knowledge of inquiry-based and project-based learning with backwards-design curriculum planning
Knowledge of the conceptual frameworks for describing learning styles, teachers’ technology adoption, and ISTE standards for students and teachers
Ability to troubleshoot minor technology issues and configure typical computer settings, iPads, printers, and audio-visual equipment
Adept at managing stressful situations and conflict resolution
Excellent communication skills: written, oral, and listening
Excellent organizational, management, and execution skills with an attention to detail
Warmth, sense of humor, and tact
Commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive community
