Lower School Computer Lab Teacher
The Waterford School, a Nursery - XII day school enrolling 900 students in suburban Salt Lake City, seeks a full time Nursery 3 – Class V, Computer Lab teacher for the 2015 - 2016 school year. Waterford offers a broad, college-preparatory liberal arts program that emphasizes the fine arts in conjunction with the traditional academic disciplines. The Computer Lab Teacher teaches in a computer lab with students leaving the homeroom for classes in the lab several times a week. Additionally students have specialists in music, science, art and PE. Each homeroom class has 22-24 students and there are three sections of each grade level. Waterford follows a September to June school calendar.
The ideal candidate would be a teacher who possesses substantial knowledge of current and emerging technologies. Who, with the assistance of the homeroom teacher, could teach students to use technology tools such as word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and presentations aligned with the classroom curriculum. The candidate would also be expected to teach introductory computer coding to Classes III – V, using a simple language such as Scratch or Blockly, and be prepared to monitor and assist students as they use online courseware to learn touch typing and reinforce academic skills learned in the classroom. Duties include curriculum development, lesson preparation, student assessment, availability to individual students and parents, and attendance at meetings and selected school events.
