Convent of the Sacred Heart is New York City’s oldest independent school for girls, educating students in grades Pre-K through 12. The Lower School seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Creative Technologist beginning late August 2016

Successful candidate:

  • Has experience in integrating technology with Grades K-4 curriculum.
  • Has a vision for designing STEAM projects in a K-4 Curriculum as "lab" type experiences for students.
  • Is comfortable meeting and collaborating with teachers and the librarian K-4 to design projects that enrich the present curriculum.
  • Is able to initiate communication among the integrationists in all the divisions so that STEAM projects are pedagogically appropriately connected.
  • Is willing to investigate avenues that would include Math, Art, Social Studies, Library and Science in various projects.
  • Has "Maker" experience and has attended STEAM professional development and similar workshops.
  • Manages online subscriptions for various web applications.
  • Provides training to Lower School faculty and administration in groups and individually.
  • Assists in providing support to faculty and students on technology-related issues.
 
Skills and Expertise:
  • Demonstrated ability to support Google Apps for Education and integrate the suite of tools into the classroom.
  • Practical knowledge of mainstream educational software applications (i.e. Scratch,Typing Agent, Tinkercad).
  • Knowledge of current trends in technology and educational technology.
  • Understanding of multiple OS platforms and device form factors.
  • Troubleshooting basic hardware and software issues relevant to the classroom STEM/STEAM education.
  • Master's degree preferred.
