St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Austin, TX seeks a highly qualified full-time Lower School Educational Technologist whose primary responsibility will be inspiring and instructing Lower School faculty in Grades Kindergarten - 5 on their use of educational technology as a transformative teaching tool.

The St. Andrew’s Lower School hosts a 1:1 environment where students in Grades Kindergarten through 3 use iPads, and those in Grades 4-5 use PC Laptops. Our Kindergarten program will open in Fall 2016 in a newly constructed building that will also house Smartboards and sophisticated classroom AV equipment. The Lower School Educational Technologist will be the primary source of instruction and support on the best use of these technologies.

Additionally, the Lower School Educational Technologist will act as the Lower School Registrar and will train and support faculty in the use of their grade-books, and oversee grading periods and associated reports that are generated for students and parents.

Essential Responsibilities

Work with teachers to support purposeful integration of technology into classroom curriculum and teaching practices (i.e. lesson planning, co-teaching, lesson modeling, etc.)
Partner with the Director of Technology and members of the technology department in defining the overall approach and goals for use of educational technology in the school
Design and deliver professional development for administrators, faculty members, and students via workshops and one-on-one training
Encourage independent and creative use of technology
Model effective uses of current and new instructional technology inside and outside the classroom for teachers and students
Work with teachers to determine what technologies to use, train them to use these tools, and plan how to incorporate them effectively into their lessons
Find outside opportunities for faculty to learn educational technologies
Educate students and parents about the evolving uses of technology
Troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues relevant to the classroom
Participate in department wide projects and attend regular department meetings
Train and support teachers in all aspects of our learning management system (Whipple Hill) with regard to posting homework, grades, reports and attendance
Support new student transitions to the Lower School, and manage withdrawing students
Train new faculty on usage of grade-books, report-card grading, comment-writing, etc.

Qualifications

A dynamic and positive personality coupled with a proactive approach to support is essential
Experience in an independent K-12 school is highly preferred
Classroom teaching experience is also desirable
Ability to produce simple and engaging presentations and training resources for audiences with a wide-range of technology skills
A broad knowledge of the current educational technology landscape (with regard to the tools available) and evolving trends
Curiosity and perseverance in problem solving, combined with a strong work ethic
Capacity to work both autonomously and as a team member
Exceptional interpersonal skills

The role is a full-time, academic year faculty position beginning August 1, 2016. The Lower School Educational Technologist ordinarily works additional days following the close of school and before the start of the next academic year to design and deliver training and professional development as needed.
