Summary: The Lower School Instructional Technologist/Assistant Librarian supports the Lower School by serving as a technology coach for faculty and staff, providing instructional technology support at the classroom level, and implementing and supporting technology initiatives.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Actively seeks out and plans specific instructional programs, applications, and lesson plans to help integrate technology into the classroom in collaboration with teachers and other instructional staff
  • Provides workshops, professional development sessions for teachers, and integrated technology-based lessons for Lower School students
  • Provides instruction to enhance digital workflow
  • Works collaboratively with the librarian to visit classrooms and provide collegial mentoring of faculty as they utilize instructional technology
  • Works with teachers and technology staff in the selection of resources that adhere to and communicate copyright as well as other laws and guidelines pertaining to the distribution and ethical use of all resources
  • Stays abreast and brings awareness of best practices and emerging trends in technology and curriculum integration to the SMH community
  • Works as a team member with teachers, library staff, and division head to complete ongoing projects and tasks
  • Communicates directly with faculty, staff, and students in a courteous and professional manner
  • Collaborates with Lower School librarian/instructional technologist to find effective ways to integrate research strategies, diverse information resources, and technology tools into the curriculum
  • Supports current and future instructional technology initiatives
  • Works collaboratively with library staff to provide the highest standard of instructional support
  • Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head of Lower School

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Teacher certification desired
  • Minimum two years teaching experience in an academic setting
  • Previous school library experience preferred
  • Previous experience delivering instructional technology to faculty and staff

  • Knowledge of trends in instructional technology, including terminology, concepts, uses, and limitations of technology in a lower school instructional setting
  • Knowledge and experience with 21st Century learning modalities
  • Compliance with all Saint Mary's Hall policies and regulations
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Good stewardship of sensitive and confidential information

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to lift 30 pounds
  • The ability to walk multiple times across campus
  • The ability to work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time
  • The ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner, and listen attentively to other in a group and one-on-one setting
  • The ability to stand for periods of time
  • The ability to stoop, bend and reach repetitively
