Lower School Technology Integrator & Computer Science Teacher

Job Description

 

The Spence School seeks a Lower School Academic Technology Integrator and Computer Science Teacher to innovate and lead current and future programs that foster teaching, learning, and assessing with technology in order to build on the school’s excellence and guide it toward future possibilities. The Technology Integrator and Computer Science Teacher reports to the Director of Academic Technology and the Head of the Computer Science Department.

 

Responsibilities

  • Champion project-based learning experiences, including interdisciplinary design challenges and digital storytelling

  • Design math and literacy enhancement and support activities to improve skills and promote problem-solving 

  • Teach Computer Science classes in grades 2 through 4 on computational problem solving, computer programming, physical computing, and collaboration

  • Advise teachers and families on digital citizenship and emerging technology trends 

  • Facilitate faculty professional development sessions and model instructional practices using technology to inspire curriculum and teaching

  • Support teachers to integrate technology into lessons and projects

  • Participate in ongoing professional development on emerging technologies, curriculum design, and pedagogies relevant to instructional technology

  • Support for the Lower School 1-1 device program, management of the teaching and learning technology stack, and support basic tech troubleshooting

  • Has experience facilitating professional development for adults 

  • Has sustained Lower School teaching experience

  • Has experience with tools such as: Scratch, Logo, LEGO robotics, Makey Makey, micro:bit and 3D printing

  • Possesses a master’s degree or equivalent experience
