The Oaks School in Hollywood California is seeking a Maker Lab and Technology Resources Coordinator beginning in August of 2018.  The coordinator will partner with classroom teachers to provide authentic, project-based and experiential learning opportunities for student grades K-6 students. The strongest candidates will have experience working with faculty members and students, desire to collaborate with other educators, and an understanding of working in a diverse learning context that features an interdisciplinary and project-based curriculum. Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach STEM/STEAM classes for grades K-6
  • Partner with teachers to further develop the STEM areas of their units of study 
  • Provide coaching and modeling for teachers in organizing STEM instruction, student assessment, lesson design and related instructional delivery, including effective teaching and learning strategies.

  • Previous experience with elementary children
  • A progressive approach to pedagogy
  • The ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents and community
  • A STEM/STEAM enthusiast who understands a range of learners and who would help further our elementary school children's interest in and love of making, building, and programming
  • Work with students on individual or small group projects. 
  • Provide expertise to teachers about projects they would like to offer and co-teach as needed. 
  • Further develop, build, and define lab space. 
  • Work to keep lab organized and well-stocked. 
  • Develop safety and maintenance systems and guidelines for teachers and students and tracking system for lab materials
  • A California Multiple Subject Teaching credential (preferred)
  • A Masters degree (or higher) in Education (preferred)
