Crystal Springs Uplands School seeks a full-time Maker Space Supervisor and Instructional Technologist to cover a spring term family leave, December 2019 through June of 2020, in the Middle School.

As the Maker Space Supervisor, the person in this position supports the grades 6-8 classroom program by helping teachers and students safely and effectively utilize the resources of the Middle School maker space, which we call the Information Resource Center (IRC), including (with assistance from the librarian) the maintenance of the small library of fiction curated to support the interests of our YA readers. As the Instructional Technologist, the person in this position helps teachers integrate instructional technology across the curriculum, and identifies opportunities for the maker and information resources of the space to support curricular units in all subject areas.

The ideal candidate will have at least three years of STEM, maker, or technology teaching experience and a B.A./B.S. in a relevant field (Masters Degree preferred). A successful candidate in this position will:

More specifically, 

As the Maker Space Supervisor, this person will:

● Report to, and work closely with, the Chief Information Officer

  • Establish and maintain a welcoming, clean, orderly, well-used maker space that supports the MS learning community

  • Provide maker space supervision during the academic day

  • Maintain maker equipment and monitor for the need of repair/upkeep

  • Order necessary supplies and materials

  • Cultivate an environment and relationship with teachers and students that encourages them to use the maker space, collaborate, and pursue an integrated curriculum

  • Work, periodically, with guidance from the MS and US librarian, in supporting collections management of the library function of the maker space. 

As the Instructional Technologist, this person will:

  • Collaborate with students and colleagues

  • Teach community members how to access, evaluate, use, and create information from a variety of sources

  • Support implementation of technology initiatives to optimize curriculum integration across content areas

  • Share a working knowledge of educational technologies and basic computer troubleshooting skills for the iPad, Chromebook, and Mac, as well as for Google Apps for Education

  • Work with teachers to help them optimize their lessons and meet student need using educational technology

  • Keep current with and evaluate emerging technologies and technology integration through professional growth and development activities

  • Provide professional learning opportunities aligned with National Educational Technology Standards (NETS-T) and assist teachers in developing professional development plans involving technology integration.

  • Assist the Technology Department in their 1:1 iPad monitoring, collection

  • Possibly assist the Computer Science/Coding Task Force in the deployment of a computer science/coding student program.
