S.T.E.A.M. Maker Space
(Innovation and Creation Hub) Teacher
SCA seeks Christian educators who are impassioned, creative, nurturing, and
relational. For this position, if you are gifted in fostering curiosity of students about learning,
engaging student participation, developing critical thinkers, and building student leadership in a
safe and trusting environment, as well as fostering collaboration with teachers, we welcome you to

Title: S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Maker Space Teacher,
Grades K-12.
Overview: The teacher shall be a college graduate, who is a Christian, and who has been called of
God to the teaching profession.
Reports to: Principals
Evaluation: Teacher performance will be evaluated by the Principals in accordance with this Job
Description and the expectations of all teachers.
Status: Full Time

BASIC FUNCTION
The Innovation and Creation Hub teacher applies creative and valid teaching techniques to achieve
curriculum aims and make a positive impact on K-12 student learning. By integrating biblical
principles and a Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum, the teacher creates a
safe and trusting relationship-based classroom environment. The teacher’s skill and disposition
promotes love and respect, equitable participation, critical thinking, and student leadership.

REQUIRED PERSONAL QUALITIES
The teacher shall:
• Have a personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ
• Believe that the Word of God is the standard for faith and daily living
• Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others
• Be a regular attendee at a Bible believing church
• Exhibit love and grace in their relationships
• Unconditionally agree with our doctrinal statements at SCA

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The teacher shall:
• Demonstrate a basic understanding of principles of STEAM and coordinate project-based learning
activities for the Innovation and Creation Hub. Knowledge of 3-D printing,
-based learning, robotics, laser cutters, and coding a plus.

• Demonstrate an interest for subject integration and applied learning. A key part of this position
is partnering with classroom teachers to help them discover how the use of the space can enhance
their current lessons, research potential lesson plans and use of the space for them, take the fear
and burden of something new from them, and be encouraging and excitable about the opportunities
presented to them. Assist them in utilizing the space at least the minimum required times per year
for each teacher.
• Develop and grow the Innovation and Creation Hub program through authentic applications,
competitions, and relevant learning opportunities including before and after school creations and
opportunities.
• Inspire student leaders to participation in the growth of the program.
• Maintain positive approach to classroom discipline
• Be the protector of the space in terms of proper inventory, care for the furniture and equipment,
and teaching the students to respect and honor the space.
• Deploy valid and creative teaching techniques to challenge student thinking and address intrinsic
motivation
• Employ a variety of instructional methods and materials that will creatively reach the whole
student – spiritual, mental, physical, social and emotional
• Assess the progress of each student regularly, using the prescribed tools effectively
• Proactively communicate with students, parents, and the administration, providing sufficient
notice of deficiencies and failure, following established guidelines
• Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with
friendliness, dignity and consideration
• Help make the space a place where students are drawn to it, and it is hard to keep them away!
• Know the procedures for dealing with emergency situations
• Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher
• Inform the administration in a timely manner if unable to perform assigned duties.
• Reflect the mission of the school, which is to “Maximize the God-given potential of each student,
preparing them to lives of distinction, by impacting the world for Jesus Christ.”

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS
The teacher shall:
• Supervise extracurricular activities as assigned
• Utilize education opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth
• Support the broader programs of SCA by attending extracurricular activities.
• Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Administrator.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The teacher shall:
• Handle work which deals mostly with people, objects, equipment in a general setting
• Bend, stoop, twist, turn, reach, lift up to 50 pounds, carry, pull push, climb, and kneel,
walking and standing approximately 50%-75% of the work day
• Recognize differences in sound; such as voices/noises that are loud and playful versus angry and
combative, able to differentiate tones and volumes in conversation
• Be able to think innovatively when tasks are not governed by standard practices

• Handle most tasks with energy and good organizational skills
• Take CPR and First Aid classes as prescribed
• Follow all guidelines for employees, including those in the employee handbook, student and parent
handbook, and the policies and procedures manual for the school.
