Falk Laboratory School, a coeducational K-8 laboratory school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, seeks one full-time, experienced, dynamic, making teacher, for the next academic year, beginning August 2019.

Salary range is competitive and commensurate with experience. Falk School, which is a department in the School of Education at the University of Pittsburgh, offers excellent benefits.

Candidates should have successful hands-on and project/problem-based teaching experience in elementary and/or middle school makerspace or technology classrooms.  The educator filling these roles will be responsible for continuing to develop a program that features both stand-alone and push-in making and technology instruction.  The position involves working in close collaboration with colleagues to co-plan, co-teach, and reflect on the developing K-8 program. The successful candidate will have a strong vision for progressive approaches to making and technology education, strong collaborative skills, and a willingness to support educational research.  Strong skills in oral and written communication will be required to frame and present the complex world of making and technology education to a variety of audiences.  As well as a willingness to learn new skills in areas such as woodworking, 3D imaging and printing, textile, and  laser cutting and engraving.  Project management and organizational skills are highly valued.  

Elementary/Middle School technology or makerspace teaching experience or equivalent coursework is required and a Master’s Degree preferred.  Broad experience is advantageous, as partnering across disciplines and grade levels is valued at our school. Highly creative work experience in the field of making and technology is an asset.
