Makerspace in the mountains! VMS is seeking a motivated and talented Makerspace Coordinator for a new, full-time position to oversee the implementation and growth of a new Makerspace lab.  The Makerspace Coordinator will be responsible for developing and delivering innovative programming and course curriculum. Courses are likely to be related to STEAM and Computer Science fields.  Teaching responsibilities will primarily be focused in grades 6-12; however, a willingness to work with lower school and collaborate with the Computer Science Teacher, Technology Integration Specialist and K-12 classroom teachers is a must.

VMS is seeking candidates skilled in the areas of engineering, design and design thinking and passionate about the use of technologies to support creative, engaged learning.  The ideal candidate should also be willing to develop additional clubs and create opportunities for competitive robotics and coding, both of which may compete at the local, state, and national levels. Prior experience in engineering, project-based learning, and design work is desirable. Strong communication skills, collegiality and the ability to inspire students to innovate and create are essential. The ideal candidate for this position is a person with wide-ranging interests who is eager to embrace the challenges and benefits of collaborating with colleagues in other disciplines with the goal of integrating technology throughout the VMS curriculum.

Candidates should have an interest in and experience with outdoor education such as hut trips, alpine skiing, hiking, rafting, etc.  In addition, a willingness to be a part of the VMS community is important.

This position requires a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar STEAM field and at least 3 years of relevant experience; experience in a middle and/or high school setting is preferred.
