Bullis School, a co-educational, 2-12, non-denominational day school in Potomac, Maryland, seeks innovative, energetic and dedicated candidates to teach Upper School Engineering courses and serve as 2-12 Maker Space Coordinator.

The position begins in August 2015 and involves teaching a year long Introduction to Engineering course and several trimester courses: Robotics I and II, CAD Design and Maker Lab. The Maker Space Coordinator will develop and deliver opportunities for making for students, deliver teacher and student training in the Maker Space, as well as supervise and maintain the Maker Space.

We seek a candidate who understands the principles of engineering, design and design thinking and demonstrates a passion and knowledge about the use of technologies to support creative, engaged learning. Strong candidates will be experienced practitioners and mentors in the making processes and should be comfortable with a hands-on approach, particularly an ability to teach the use of hand tools, electronics, computer software, hardware, desktop fabrication and various other technologies. Collaborative work, interdisciplinary thinking, as well as interest in developing curriculum are essential to this position. Bullis values teachers who plan student-centered, innovative lessons and who employ a variety of strategies and assessments. Management of the Maker Space requires strong communication skills and organizational skills to coordinate daily program logistics (supplies, room set-up, etc.) and ensure a productive, safe, professional, and fun environment for students and staff.

Successful teachers at Bullis are energized by curriculum development and are grounded in current learning theory. They have the desire and techniques to engage students in active learning and teaching for understanding both inside and outside the classroom.

Skills & Requirements
Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of a undergraduate degree in a STEM-related field and will possess experience in an educational Maker Space environment. A graduate degree in a related content area or education is preferred.
