Heilicher seeks to hire a Makerspace teacher who has experience with the Maker Movement and pedagogy, who is eager to help students and fellow educators use the school’s newly-built Makerspace/Innovation Lab. The school seeks candidates who are innovative, technology-savvy, have a firm grasp on elementary-level teaching pedagogy, and are able to work collaboratively with colleagues. The Makerspace will be used in collaboration with classroom teachers in grades K-5 to enhance, extend, and deepen classroom learning and curricular projects.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate hands-on projects with students; team-teach with classroom teachers.

  • Create opportunities and programming in the Makerspace, including partnering with outside organizations and experts.

  • Manage the scheduling, inventory, and equipment upkeep.

  • Must be a flexible and collaborative team member who can support, inspire, and motivate others and make decisions effectively.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • At least three years experience of in an elementary and/or middle school Experience teaching science in elementary and/or middle school Creative, innovative, forward-thinking, growth-mindset

  • Excellent collaborative skills

  • Enthusiasm for exploring new trends and tools for learning

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Experience with interdisciplinary and innovative curricular design 

  • Experience with inquiry-based learning and cooperative learning with a focus on a student-centered approach  

Desired Qualifications:

  • Education degree

  • Independent school experience

  • Comfort with technology: Google Slides/ Keynote, Word/Pages, Google platforms STEAM education certification

  • FTE: .50, benefits eligible
