As Manager, Field Operations, you will develop and maintain a voice and data network infrastructure as well as provide current and future direction for the University network. You will plan, develop, monitor and manage the budgets required to support the network including the distribution of the copper and fiber cable plant. In this role, you will focus on the customer facing aspects of the operations. Additionally, you will develop network infrastructure policies and procedures. You will also prepare project budgets and reports. Finally, you will provide technical leadership in developing and maintaining a robust, highly reliable, highly available, and disaster tolerant voice and data network environment. 

 

Qualifications

 Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or other related technical field.  

  • Five years’ experience in construction and maintenance of telecommunications systems, including experience in all project management disciplines. 

  • In lieu of degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience.

  • Experience supervising technical staff. 

  • Progressively responsible in Information Technology with a wide range of network technologies.  

  • Experience with large network environments. Infrastructure design experience. 

  • Expert knowledge of telecommunication systems.  

  • Strong skills in project preparation (including construction documents), scheduling and management of technical staff.  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.  

  • Ability to interact with a variety of customers.  

  • Experience with project management. 

  • Ability to effectively guide, lead and develop technical employees promoting team relationship skills and communication.  

  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously, as well as the ability to both plan and adhere to project deadlines. 

  • A valid US or Canadian driver's license. 

Preferred:

  • Campus telecommunications infrastructure design experience. 

  • Expert knowledge of telecommunication systems in a University setting. Experience managing staff. 

  •  Project Management certification.
