Summary of Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Manager of Information Systems will manage the IT infrastructure and systems across the School’s two campuses, including servers, network, security and end­user devices. The Manager of Information Systems will work closely with the Director of Information Services in the selection of appropriate hardware and software to support teaching and learning, data management systems, and library services. The Manager will also supervise and manage the work of other members of the Information Systems team. The Manager is charged with developing and maintaining information systems that allow Washington International School to successfully fulfill its mission while providing the agility to grow and change as required by the institution.

Major Functions and Responsibilities

The Manager of Information Systems will:

1. Oversee the operations of the Information Systems department.

2. Serve as the supervisor of the members of the Information Systems staff.

3. Develop systems for the management of the department including life cycle management of devices, operational maintenance and community support.

4. Manage the budget for the Information Systems Department and work closely with the Director of Information Services to manage acquisition and support of technology needs.

5. Manage competing priorities in order to meet immediate needs while still planning properly for future initiatives.

6. Listen to the community and seek feedback to ensure work is being properly prioritized.

7. Maintain and upgrade the physical network infrastructure; both wired and wireless (Xirrus).

8. Maintain and upgrade the network switching (HP) and routing infrastructure.

9. Maintain server (HP/Dell/Hyper­V) and storage infrastructure.

10. Manage network security from firewall/perimeter to local file structure (including highly mobile users).

11. Manage Network Access Control (NAC) for wired and wireless access across the environment.

12. Manage devices (Casper and SCCM) on the network whether those devices (OSX/Windows/iOS/Chrome/Mobile) are owned by the school, students, or guests.

13. Manage printers, MFPs and copiers.

14. Manage voice communication system (Mitel).

15. Be responsible for communication out to all users in regards to anything IT related such as system maintenance, downtimes, upgrades, content filtering, all IT policies with clarity in a manner appropriate the audience.

16. Manage Active Directory responsibilities (maintenance/management), troubleshooting mailboxes, passwords management, setting up group policies, and other related activities.

17. Manage and integrate the Google Apps for Education and Office 365 environments.

18. Oversee or assists with troubleshooting, systems backups, archiving, disaster recovery and provides support when needed.

19. Write IT policies, lead policy changes, put policies in place and track them which includes disseminating policy information to all users.

Job Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience

● Minimum 3 years of network management experience in a demanding environment preferably in a school or non-profit organization

● MCITP and/or CCNA, Network+ , A+ certifications desired

● Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, as well as climb stairs and ladders
