Job Summary/Basic Function:

As a member of the Registrar and Dean of Academic Systems’ team, and in close partnership with the centralized Administrative Technology Services department, the Manager, Information Systems provides technical and information management leadership, expertise, and support for a wide range of faculty and staff needs. Working primarily with student data in the enterprise system Ellucian Banner, and the Web Focus reporting system, the Manager, Information Systems implements and manages technical and reporting solutions.

Responsibilities of the Manager, Information Systems include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide systems management and leadership, actively seeking solutions and enhancements to ensure systems optimization.

  • Act as a technical project manager.

  • Work with the Registrar and Dean of Academic Systems to manage reporting menus and design reports and datasets, ensuring the availability of accurate and timely information in consumable formats.

  • Collaborate with other WebFocus programmers.

  • Participate in business process reviews.

  • Ensure effective and efficient operational systems integration.

  • Develop data reports.

  • Develop and maintain system and process documentation.

  • Develop and maintain data transfer processes.

  • Manage testing for system upgrades.

  • Remain current with all relevant technology.

  • Act as a liaison with the Administrative Technology Services department.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems and 4 or more years of related work experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience with relational databases.

  • Knowledge of SQL programming.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Proficient with reporting tools.

  • Well-organized, intellectually curious and a team player.

  • Ability to work with technical and non-technical staff and faculty.

  • Self-motivated, desire to take initiative and to persevere through project completion.

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Strong commitment to continuous process improvement and service.

  • Ability to work with confidential information.

  • Ability to work occasional events and hours outside of the normally scheduled work week.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner.

  • Experience with database, analytic, and reporting software applications.

  • Proficiency with WebFocus reporting tool.

  • Knowledge of JAVA programming.

  • Knowledge of HTML.
