Ethical Culture Fieldston School is a progressive preK-12 independent school serving students from throughout New York City and the surrounding suburbs. Committed to academic excellence, ethical learning, and progressive education, ECFS offers a rich and challenging curriculum in the arts, sciences, and humanities. A coed, nonsectarian school, it serves a diverse community of about 1,700 students from PreK to 12 on two campuses -- one in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, and the other in Manhattan. The middle school, located in the Bronx, is comprised of approximately 400 students and 50 faculty members.

The Ethical Culture Fieldston School’s technology department seeks a middle school technology and ethics integrator to join the cross-divisional integration team. Experience working with middle school students is desired, whether in formal or informal learning environments, as well as demonstrated experience/activism in the intersection of technology and ethics. Working both with divisional staff and the technology team, the technology and ethics integrator will teach a course related to ethical issues in technology, plan parent workshops, work closely with the school counselors to support health and wellness as it relates to technology, and work with faculty to identify cross-curricular opportunities to integrate technology and ethics topics into other subject areas. The most critical role of the ethics and technology integrator is to help middle school students apply everyday ethics to online environments.

This position is for the 2016-17 school year.

Ideal candidates will be energized by the opportunity to work with young learners to tackle contemporary ethical issues in technology, such as environmental justice, access, privacy, civil rights, security, human rights, and sustainable practices. We are looking for a candidate who will be energized by employing a range of pedagogical approaches and excited by the opportunity to work with a diverse student body in a values based community. Candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to addressing issues of equity, belonging, privilege, and justice and passion for working with middle school students.
