Children’s Day School (CDS) is a co-educational preschool through eighth grade serving over 460 students in the Mission Dolores neighborhood of San Francisco.  Spanning two campuses, and home to a diverse community of students, faculty and families, CDS is a vibrant learning community. Role:

The Innovation Lab Intern will support the mission to provide the best technology innovation for our CDS students.  You will coach students in best practices in using an innovation lab and create project-based activities for the lab. You will inspire and empower our students to engage their curiosity, express creativity, act with compassion and lead with courage.

 

Responsibilities:

Reports to the Director of the Innovation Lab.
Help plan and implement exciting, child-centered technology and maker related activities for after school and summer programs.
Create a safe, fun and engaging environment for students.
Encourage children to take initiative to solve problems. Help children think, investigate, ask questions and laugh. Strive to meet each child’s individual needs.
Mentor, coach, and guide students through design and project based learning.
Ensure the safety of all students using the space.  
Research future innovation needs for the program.
Maintain space to protect the integrity of the materials.
 

The successful candidate will:

Create and lead engaging activities.
Be proficient with technology and tools: coding, 3D modeling and printing, electronics, etc.
Have experience teaching or leading youth activities.
Demonstrate the ability to take initiative, work passionately and joyfully, and collaborate effectively with colleagues, students and parents.
Model behavior and language that supports our mission and our program.
Display excellent rapport with children and families.
Display excellent classroom management.
Express the desire and ability to take on increasing responsibility in the classroom and the CDS community, and to participate generously.

This is a part time position. Salary will depend upon hours and experience.
