Laguna Blanca School is seeking a full time MS and US STEM instructor beginning in August 2017.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
• Deliver STEM-oriented instruction through Project-Based Learning methods in the following subject areas:
◦ Engineering
◦ Robotics
◦ Computer Science
As a full-time position in both our Middle and Upper School divisions, the instructor must have a passion for instructing a wide range of ages.
• Teaches existing curriculum, or develops curriculum that focuses students on the design thinking process and meets Laguna Blanca’s pedagogical standards. Developed curriculum should be created through a collaborative process that strives for interdisciplinary connections, enhances existing programs, and meshes with existing STEM electives. Curriculum should help students work both collaboratively and individually to solve complex authentic problems.
• Creates a classroom environment that is safe, conducive to learning, and is appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and assessments, which meet the needs of the spectrum of students enrolled at Laguna Blanca School.
• Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all lessons, curricular units, and projects.
• Coaches and facilitates various STEM clubs and competition teams.
• Coordinates and helps organize special STEM events/activities, such as TED at Laguna, a STEM showcase, Science Discovery Night, etc.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree or relevant professional experience. Formal education in computer science is required.

EXPERIENCE: Teaching experience is preferred, but subject area experience and a willingness to develop instructional skills will also be considered.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES: Knowledge of the current theories, techniques, and methodologies of STEM. We require a person with a passion for all things STEM and a computer science background.

Experience with the following is preferred, but not required:

• CAD software
• 3D printers and 3D print software
• VEX robotics platform
• Lego robotics platform
This position requires someone with a magnetic personality that can draw students into trying STEM electives and participating in extracurricular STEM activities. The position will require someone who can adjust to the needs and interests of students and has the ability to learn new and complex technology as it presents itself.
