Chief Objective of Position

This position will manage on a day to day basis all services and inventory of the Trible Library Media Center. Additional responsibilities include reference work, library instruction, one-on-one research assistance, and development and delivery of student media services and collections.

Work Tasks

• Supervise student assistants in the delivery of library’s Media Center services.

• Develop training programs for Media Center students on the use of media hardware.

• Provide support of faculty using multimedia projects in their classwork including consulting faculty for best options based on inventory and rubric needs.

• Manage Media Center assets and provide training as needed to students, faculty and staff. Keep track of inventory and assisting in selecting new items for purchase based on the needs of the curriculum and/or student/faculty input.

• Assist in the delivery of reference services including reference collection development and reference consulting services.

• Manages technology in the Media Center area, which includes installing and updating software; troubleshooting and reporting problematic hardware; and ensuring the safety of both CNU property and the intellectual property of our students.

• Selects and deselects items in the media collection (both physical and online) in support of the CNUfaculty and CNU Community’s instructional needs.

• Answers the CNU Community’s technology and media related questions.

• Interfaces with IT staff and the CNU Community as a representative of the Trible Library and an expert on various instructional technologies.

• Develop and deliver instructional programs related to media services.

• Participates in the delivery of Reference Services.

• Library instruction and other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) required

Knowledge and understanding of current issues and trends in technology in higher education; computer skills in a wide variety of internet and media software; excellent oral and written communication, organizational, analytical and decision-making skills; excellent customer service skills; critical and creative thinking skills.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) preferred

Familiarity with Apple computer products.

Required Education

Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science or a related field is required by start date into the position.

Preferred Education  
Experience Required

Experience in the use of media in an academic environment; experience with digital editing software; experience using digital equipment including cameras and video recorders.

Experience Preferred

Academic library experience at a liberal arts college/university; prior experience teaching at college/university level; experience supervising student workers.
