he Network Administrator’s role is to engineer, implement, monitor, maintain, and administer computer, server, and network infrastructure. Educational Technology responsibilities play a key role in training students and teachers on hardware and software, and troubleshooting electronic device problems.

 

Network Administrator Responsibilities:

 

  • Research, implement, maintain, and administer all network equipment across campus, including switches, router, firewall, content filtering, and wireless access points.
  • Research, implement, maintain, and administer all servers and services, including authentication, security, file, web, database, e-mail, LDAP, Open Directory, Active Directory, DNS, & RADIUS Servers.  Includes administering user network accounts.
  • Implement, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain server backup solution.
  • Upgrade software, desktop computers, servers, and network equipment.
  • Oversee, maintain, troubleshoot and repair network desktop computers, laptops, servers, printers and network equipment.
  • Create, monitor, and maintain security and virus policies for all computers.
  • Respond to and work on special projects as needed.
  • Research, evaluate, test, and help in the selection of new hardware and software for school use.
  • Research, evaluate, test, and recommend productivity, networking, and server software.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Educational Technologist Responsibilities:

 

  • Support the daily, drop-in or scheduled, educational technology needs of students and teachers, including hands-on technology support in classrooms during appropriate lessons.
  • Conduct individual, small group or large group technology lessons for students or staff, as needed. Teaching periodic technology sessions in student Seminars.
  • Solve problems within academic departments related to technology integration, including identifying applications that enhance teaching.
  • Provide on-going education and support for use of the following technology devices and applications: Promethean ActivPanels, Smart TVs, Google Drive, teacher classpages, Blackbaud FAWeb and Education Edge.  
  • Stay current with technology trends and maintaining continuing education as needed in order to respond to staff and student needs. Including software applications such as library’s Surpass, J-Stor, Libguides, etc. Investigating and running “trial period” applications when appropriate.
  • Maintain the faculty Educational Technology page on the school website, which includes updates on ed-tech trends, professional development opportunities, and instruction guides/FAQs for frequently used school technology and applications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

Communication:

 

·         Excellent written and verbal communication.

·         Effective, appropriate and timely communication with the Technology Director.

·         Thorough documentation of processes in the Technology Department.

 

Professionalism:

 

·         Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

·         Patience and a sense of humor required to work comfortably with adolescent girls.

·         Completion of administrative tasks and obligations in a timely manner.

·         Consistent high-quality work with minimal supervision.

·         Self-motivated and ability to work independently.

·         Promote the mission of the School.

 

Education and Experience:

 

·         Bachelor’s Degree required in a technology field.

·         2+ years of direct technology experience.

·         Extensive working knowledge of computer hardware, software, peripherals, and related

technologies.  Including, but not limited to, servers, networking equipment, firewalls and desktop operating systems.

·         Extensive working knowledge of infrastructure requirements and components for LAN’s, WAN’s, and

the internet.

·         Strong knowledge of security and networking best practices.

·         Strong technology literacy.

·         Familiarity and experience with LDAP, DNS, Active Directory, POP, TCP/IP and HTTP.

·         Knowledge of wireless networks implement, configuration and security.

·         Ability to explain technical jargon to general audiences.

·         Experience working in an education environment preferred.

 

Working Conditions:

 

·         Must be able to work with multiple distractions and changing priorities.

·         Must be able to work occasionally during off-peak hours.

·         On-Call for emergencies dealing with network and power outages.

·         Does network updates on ‘off-hours’ (late days, holidays, breaks, etc.).

·         Remain active for an eight hour shift and sit upright for long periods of time.

·         Must be able to exert up to 35 pounds of force to lift, push, pull, carry, or otherwise move objects.
