Network Administrator I - North Campus

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides support of a multi-user network including hardware and software tools as well as installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of LAN and WAN switches, wireless access points and controllers, Core Switches, Firewalls, VPNs, and VoIP telephony equipment at all College sites. 

  • Ensures network connectivity for all devices.

  • Assists with Network Design and capacity planning. 

  • Upgrades, installs, and troubleshoots networks, networking hardware devices, and software. 

  • Develops and documents standards for network devices.

  • Recommends, schedules, and implements repairs to the LAN/WAN/WLAN. 

  • Monitors and tests network performance and provides network performance statistics and reports.

  • Ensures quality assurance processes are being followed, including service levels as outlined in the ITS Service Level Agreement and change control procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of network technologies such as TCP/IP, NAT, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, EVPN, VLANS, Telnet, SSH, FTP, The 7 Layers of the OSI model, Firewall rules, Wireless Networking principals, VoIP, UTP wiring standards and repair, subnetting, and connection troubleshooting are preferred.

  • Knowledge of Juniper Network Equipment, Avaya VoIP systems, Aruba Wireless, Solarwinds Orion Networking Tools, Wireshark, Big Sister, and MRTG are preferred.

  • Ability to work well with others and to demonstrate an excellent quality of work with little or no supervision required.

  • Must be highly organized and possess excellent communication and documentation skills.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Must be able to work on ladders.

  • Must be able to lift at least 50lbs.

  • Must be able to work on-call rotations.

  • Must be willing to travel between campuses.

 

Required Education:

  • Industry standard certification or Diploma, Certificate or Degree from an accredited institution is required.

 

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelors Degree or above in Information Technology or Computer Science from an accredited institution is preferred.

 

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of related IT work experience is required.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in Higher Education preferred.

 

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License. Travel between College locations in a personal vehicle required.

 

Preferred Licenses/Certifications:

  • JNCIA, CompTIA Network+/Security+, CCNA

 

 

Salary Grade: 25
