As a member of the Network and Systems Services (NSS) team, the Network Administrator is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of managing the Academy’s wired and wireless networks.  This includes the administration and maintenance of campus switches, access points, firewalls, routers, DNS/DHCP services, VPN, network authentication services and monitoring environment.  This position will also be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of the Academy’s data centers, MDFs and IDFs, including power, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and cooling.  This individual will act as a resource for technology-based projects and tasks touching multiple functional and technical areas. The technical environment of oversight includes a 75-plus building Cisco-based fiber data network, 150-plus network switches, and approximately 600 access points.
The successful candidate will:
Collaborate with the Network and Firewall Engineer to handle ongoing support request; manage and maintain electronics located in the field; plan and execute platform updates/upgrades.
Work with members of the NSS team to monitor, diagnose and resolve technical issues as they relate to the campus network and datacenter environments.  Provide support to the OIT Helpdesk in order to resolve end user connectivity issues in a timely manner.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong knowledge and experience with LAN technologies, including DNS/DHCP, TCP/IP, IPv4, 802.11x, 802.11 ac/a/b/g/n, Radius, VLAN, and SNMP.

  • Hands-on experience working with Cisco network products and platforms, including Catalyst/Nexus switches, Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC) and access points.

  • Experience with network troubleshooting, analysis and management tools including Wireshark, Cisco ISE, Cisco Prime, Cisco DNA Center and SolarWinds Network Management.

  • Advanced understanding of network protocols/services and network infrastructures.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a service-oriented environment with a wide variety of people and personalities, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks while working both with a team and independently.

  • Ability to analyze and troubleshooting complex technical issues and drive them to a resolution.

  • Strong oral and written communications, with the ability to develop technical documentation.

  • Successful candidate needs to be detail-orientated and have a meticulous attention to details.

  • Experience working with WAN technologies and products, including Cisco routers and Fortinet Fortigate firewalls, a plus.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.  A minimum of three years of previous network administration experience in an enterprise environment is required.  Relevant Technical Certifications a plus (CompTIA Network+, CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, and or CISSP)
