The Network Analyst reports to the Assistant Director of Networking under the Telecommunications/Networking IT area of responsibility. The Network Analyst will be responsible for testing and modifying network systems and programs, applying network systems analysis techniques and procedures for proper network functioning, and providing and maintaining data services for the Union College community. This includes providing day to day programming, monitoring, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of all campus network switches and systems in a Cisco voice/data network and resolving end user connectivity issues. This position serves as the hands on field contact for data wiring, installation and service and support for telecom rooms, fiber backbone connections, and other communications equipment through maintenance labeling and regular cleaning and will oversee and work closely with outside vendors as needed. This position requires maintaining accurate and current records for networking maintenance, numbering assignments, configurations, helpdesk software, and marking of buried cable infrastructure. The position assists with deployment, testing and maintenance of VoIP and other various telephony technologies.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required with a minimum of 2 years related work experience. Cisco Certified Network Technician or higher preferred This person must demonstrate working knowledge and professional experience with network systems including experience in diagnosing network hardware and troubleshooting software; have knowledge of various operating systems including Windows, Macintosh, Linux and various mobile platforms; experience with wired and wireless network technologies, and layers 1-2 of the OSI Model (including wiring repairs). Must possess a basic understanding of VoIP/telephony technologies. This position requires demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a service oriented environment and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks while working both as a team player and independently. Must be safety conscious and able to work with a diverse group of individuals.
