
Network and Systems Administrator
Position Summary
The Network and Systems Administrator is a key leader in the Technology Department, responsible for delivering reliable, secure, and user-centered IT services across campus. This role manages all technical systems including servers, networks, phones, databases, and software services. Additionally, NSA maintains up-to-date documentation of all technical processes, oversees equipment inventory, and provides tech support for all initiatives within the department.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience in IT support and systems administration
- Proficiency with Apple device management (JAMF/Mosyle preferred)
- Experience with network administration (Cisco Meraki preferred), server management, backup systems, and virtualization technologies (VMware preferred)
- Knowledge of database management and educational software systems (Blackbaud experience preferred)
- Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and data protection protocols
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to provide technical support to non-technical users
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders, including faculty, students, and administrators.
Core Responsibilities
Infrastructure Management
- Manages the school's hardware and software infrastructure including wired and wireless networks, physical and virtual servers, and cloud and on-premise databases
- Manages the backup and recovery systems and protocols for all technical systems
- Maintains data security on all systems per industry best practices
- User Support & Systems Administration
- Provides technical support to all employees and students
- Manages all end-user Apple devices via an MDM such as JAMF & Mosyle
- Manages the school's various databases and software systems, such as Blackbaud, Canvas, MAIA Learning Google Workspace for Education, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.
- Manages the school's phone system including setup and maintenance
- Installs, configures, maintains, and troubleshoots employee devices, peripherals, A/V equipment, and related hardware and software across campus to deliver optimal service levels
Documentation & Security
- Manages accurate equipment inventory of hardware
- Writes technical documentation and keeps it up-to-date
- Advocates for and promotes best practices in cybersecurity across the entire community
Collaboration & Planning
- Works closely with the Director of Technology on network, infrastructure, and software short-term and long-term planning and upgrades, collaborating with others as needed
- Serves as a member of a 4-person technology team that includes an educational technologist, design lead, and AI learning specialist
- Remains current on new products and developments in information technology
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology
