As part of the Information Technology Department, the Network Manager administers server-side concerns in a networked environment including planning, budgeting, designing, Implementing, supporting, and preparing documentation. Provide network and server support to maximize end user functionality, availability, security and supportability. Responsibilities include project planning and management, software and equipment acquisition, installation and configuration, on-going administration support, vendor management, and trouble-shooting. The Network Manager reports to the Chief Technology Officer.
 

Primary essential functions:
• Manage complete server and appliance environment including domain controllers, firewall, database, applications, and storage arrays
• Manage and Maintain Domain and DNS services and SSL certificates
• Manage complete network data center including core and edge devices, cable plant (fiber and copper) for LAN, WAN and wireless connectivity.
• Administrator of the Network Access Control registration and monitoring of client connectivity to the network.
• Manage system software updates and security patches; disk space, backups and restores; performance and capacity.
• Provide end-user support primarily focused on administrative offices and faculty with regular secondary involvement in the checking in and out of student laptops from the tech office.
• Manage Groton School O365 email and SharePoint applications and Google Apps for Education
• Create and maintain active directory accounts to manage computer, user and group authentication and security.
• Design support and maintain the Virtual Desktop interfaces for the Administrative offices on campus, and in conjunction with the systems support specialist, maintain and support the virtual hosted application environment
• Configure, maintain, and support Mitel PBX hybrid VOIP Phone system.
• Oversee the data security and back-up policies and procedures for data for each department, including near line snapshots, replication and archived tape data.
• Configure and maintain business and operational applications, including Treeno document Management, MySQL, Filemaker, Naviance, and Snap Healthcare, Mandarin Library, AccessNSite, And American Energy Management
• In conjunction with the Dean’s office, design a content filtering scheme to support Groton School content filtering policies.
• Monitor real time service delivery and performance with 24x7 response capability; must carry a cell phone.
• Actively participate in department meetings and other meetings as necessary
 
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree or a directly related field.
 
EXPERIENCE
At least three years’ experience in network administration within an academic environment preferred.
