The Roxbury Latin School seeks a knowledgeable, creative, and proactive individual to fill the role of Network Technology Coordinator. This is a full-time, 12-month position.
The Network Technology Coordinator will be the School’s primary expert on network infrastructure, including, but not limited to, external network connections, switches and cabling, firewalls, load balancing, servers (primarily Windows), virtual machines, network security, and wireless access points. As a member of the Information Services Department, the NTC will report to the Director of Technology, and work alongside the Assistant Director of Technology, Webmaster & Data Manager, and Librarian/Archivist. The Information Services Department is a dynamic, multifaceted department, both academic and support-oriented, responsive as well as proactive in providing technology to support all functions of the School.
The NTC will manage the network systems, make recommendations for purchasing and upgrades, and will advise the Director of Technology on potential network bottlenecks or future problems. Additional responsibilities may include: providing helpdesk support to faculty, staff, and students, maintenance of physical computing resources (Mac, PC, Chrome), printers, and software, maintenance of user accounts and group policy, and administration of our VoIP phone system. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, work well in a team, and be comfortable working in a busy environment with middle- and high-school students. She/he will be an adaptive and proactive member of the Information Services Department, and work independently, as well as with the Department, to learn new technologies and paradigms as the School’s systems grow and change. Since this is a staff-level position, the NTC would not be expected to serve as teacher, coach, or advisor.
Current technologies in use at Roxbury Latin include Cisco Meraki, PepLink, Palo Alto, Dell SonicWall, and Barracuda hardware, and VMWare, Veeam, Backupify, G Suite for Education, and Blackbaud K-12 school management software, including Raiser’s Edge and Financial Edge. Experience with these particular systems is helpful.
