Salary: $65,000 - $70,500  

East Carolina University is recruiting for a Journey Networking Analyst to provide technical expertise in the support of network management, security and reporting systems. These systems require a high level of availability and system security as they are critical to the functions of the university.

The individual in this position functions in a medium technical capacity and is responsible for the development of long-term plans within their areas. The work is highly analytical and the position is responsible for ensuring that day-to-day administration and support of the business-class critical client-server applications needs are met. This individual should have moderate technical knowledge in the following core areas of responsibility but not limited to: enterprise-level network services, firewall and VPN systems, intrusion detection and prevention systems, dynamic addressing and naming systems, load balancing systems, network access control systems, network monitoring, management, and reporting systems, and enterprise-level network systems or services that affect or influence the enterprise network infrastructure. The employee in this position is a skilled technical resource for other team members in the core areas of responsibility providing assistance with problems from medium complexity through analysis and problem resolution. This includes managing projects that have a high impact and complexity utilizing state of the art technologies. This position may also include organizing and coordinating the day-to-day work of student workers.

Duties include: The main responsibilities of this position provides the day-to-day administration, design, deployment, maintenance, automation, disaster recovery, and troubleshooting of various enterprise-level network services. Including, but not limited to the following enterprise-level network services: firewall and VPN systems, intrusion detection and prevention systems, dynamic addressing and naming systems, load balancing systems, network access control systems, network monitoring, management, and reporting systems, and enterprise-level network systems or services that affect or influence the enterprise network infrastructure.
This position will assist other support teams and university users with resolving difficult network and application data transport problems and will also be responsible for attending provisioning meetings to gather customer requirements, installing configurations into test and production environments, and obtaining final customer acceptance. This position will perform technical assistance in the resolution of service incidents and service requests and will focus on change, release, configuration, problem, and incident management processes as they relate to network management and security services. The selected candidate should demonstrate the ability to quickly assess faults and take corrective action in a mission critical environment. The selected candidate should also have the ability to fully integrate multiple networking technologies into an enterprise class networking environment with the proven ability to work under pressure.

The employee in this position is responsible for forming and maintaining strategic technology contacts and partnerships with university departments, key technology suppliers, vendors and contractors. This position is responsible for the planning, cost containment, configuration, optimization, maintenance, security, and implementation of current and emerging technologies. It is also responsible for negotiating, procuring, and maintaining various support agreements and contracts.

The standard work schedule of this position may include, but not limited to evening and weekend hours to perform scheduled and unscheduled workload requirements to maintain University operations.
