Job Summary

Primary Role: Lead implementation of networking projects. Coordinate required internal and external resources to facilitate and lead the step-by-step project management process for GRNOC networks, including the intradepartmental management of interrelated project tasks within the various GRNOC units and departments, as well as external partners. The position will be required to recognize problems and issues, and to facilitate solutions acceptable to the project, utilizing available resources within the project scope. Monitor progress of projects at highest levels ensuring that quality and cost constraints are met.

Manage budget and resources for the successful completion of the project. Create and foster relationships with key project stakeholders and service owners to ensure functional user expectations and requirements are articulated and integrated. Provide expert leadership to team and across functional groups to meet expectations. Organize project teams, foster good relationships; and arrange training where necessary. Prepare detailed analyses and documents for review.

Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree, plus 2 years of experience in information technology environment with increasing complexity and scope for networking project management including proven project management experience.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Ability to manage with large scale projects and rollouts. Exhibit the capacity to monitor and oversee projects. Able to handle multiple priorities, constantly changing demands and work effectively in a multitasking environment. Must be well-versed in relevant methodologies, including systems development life cycle (SDLC). Exceptional communication skills, including the demonstrated ability to present plans, status updates, and issues to executive sponsors and executive stakeholders, both formally and informally.

Preferred Qualifications

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification; a broad knowledge of networking protocols, installation and maintenance of networking or other computer hardware.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

Extensive travel is required.
