Position Summary: The network and systems administrator's primary responsibility will be to implement, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot the school's critical infrastructure, including hardware, network, and software systems.

Position responsibilities:

Network Administration

  • Ensure the integrity and continual operation of St. Anne's-Belfield Schools network operations by monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting campus networks.

  • Quickly resolve technical problems with Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and other systems.

  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement changes to current and future networking infrastructure.

  • Maintain network firewall(s) and ensure internal and external network traffic is appropriately routed through the firewall policies.

  • Monitor and maintain the safe, secure, and reliable storage of St. Anne's-Belfield School's electronic data and proactively raise awareness for and defend against web threats, viruses, and hacker activity.

  • Assist with research, development, and evaluation of policies, procedures, and guidelines related to data integrity and security.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with outside technology consultants and vendors. Negotiate and manage vendor bids, agreements, and contracts for hardware, software and technology-related services.

  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of the annual E-Rate application process for qualifying expenses.

Systems Administration

  • Monitor and maintain the functionality of all IT systems, applications, physical and virtual infrastructure, and all other IT-related functions that support the school's academic and business operations.

  • Ensuring overall system and server uptime, availability, reliability, and security

  • Manage and deploy all WSUS updates to servers and clients

  • Provide tier 2 helpdesk assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware

  • Provide input and aid in the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and emerging future IT systems

  • Manage uninterruptible power systems for all infrastructure equipment.

  • Assist in maintaining and troubleshooting Cisco VOIP phone system issues and data line connectivity.

  • Perform and document routine testing and maintenance of data and phone backups

  • Assist with active directory and group policy management

  • Assist the Director of Security with the management of the access control and paging systems

  • Help with administration of server and client endpoint protection software to defend against web threats.

  • Assist with training, providing IT resources, and evaluating and developing specifications for hardware and software to meet the needs of faculty and staff as appropriate.

  • Assist with deployment of client devices when needed

  • Fulfilling any other duties assigned by the Head of School, Chief Operating and Financial Officer, or the Director of Information Technology

Education and experience:

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field and 3 years of experience in network support and management OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Preferred: Cisco or other networking certifications;

Reporting to this position: No direct reports

Physical demands and work environment: School location on two campuses requires some transportation to and from, a fair amount of walking from one task to another, and occasional heavy lifting up to 50 pounds. Working in the evening or on weekends may be required to perform system installations and upgrades.

As a condition of employment, all employees hired after September 30, 2021 are required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or submit to weekly PCR testing for COVID-19. Application for a medical or religious exemption for vaccination can be made through our human resources department. If exempted, weekly PCR testing is still required. These COVID-19 testing and vaccination requirements may change at the discretion of the School at any time.
