Doane University, a nationally recognized liberal arts and sciences university in Nebraska seeks applications for innovative, service-oriented, and dynamic candidates who are dedicated to teaching and learning for the position of Online Learning Librarian. The Online Learning Librarian provides leadership on the investigation into, design of, experimentation with and delivery of accessible online learning objects, materials and tools that enhance information literacy skills in support of student success.  The position also serves as liaison to various academic departments, which includes collection development responsibilities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees library resources and services specific to online learning including services for distance learners.

  • Facilitate the investigation into, integration and use of library instruction materials in learning management systems and other online environments while ensuring compliance with ADA guidelines.

  • Provides leadership for the Library's LibGuides implementation and chat reference service.

  • Provides general research support services (in-person, email, chat).

  • Liaise with other campus offices supporting instruction and learning initiatives, especially Technology Services and Online Education.

  • Serves as a subject liaison for select academic departments, which includes subject-specific instruction, reference, research support, outreach and collection development.

  • Coordinates training sessions and daily tasks for the library student workers.

  • Takes the lead on developing and improving instructional content on the Library website.

  • Coordinates outreach strategies for the library including social media coordination, digital signage, print and online promotional materials, and promotion of events.

  • Participates in Campus initiatives by serving on campus committees and contributing to other relevant activities and events.

  • Contributes to and learns from the profession through local, state, and national professional organizations, presentations, and publications.

Required Qualifications:

  • MLS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution

  • Ability to work in a small academic library environment where consultation, flexibility, creativity, collaboration and cooperation are essential.

  • Strong public service orientation.

  • Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and projects while meeting deadlines.

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills; evidence of strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in planning and/or providing information literacy instruction.

  • Familiarity with information literacy and instructional technology concepts, pedagogies, and assessment.

  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards for ADA compliance for online learning.

  • Experience with E-learning software (Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia Studio etc.)
