This position is for a high school robotics coach/teacher and computer science, with the possibility of an introductory math section. The candidate must embrace helping student to develop inquiry skills and providing experiences with the practices of science. Knowledge of the Next Generation Science Standards or at least an interest to learn about them and to use them in their teaching is preferred. Episcopal High School is particularly interested in considering applications from faculty who have experience or expressed interest in studio-design thinking, project-based instruction, and interdisciplinary “learning by doing” methods that bridge traditional fields in creative, student-centered ways. A candidate interested in working cross-curricularly with other disciplines to employ project-based learning would be an excellent fit as well.

A full time robotics team commitment would be part of the responsibilities of this position that, during build season in mid-January through mid-March requires after school and weekend time with the team.

Our new science and math facility, opening in the 2018 school year is a flexible and thoughtfully designed building that will serve research projects and project-based learning well.

The position is full-time. A bachelor's degree is required. At least three years of teaching experience with depth of science understanding is preferred. The Episcopal faculty member serves as a representative of the school at all times, upholding its mission both personally and professionally. The candidate must be a self-motivated individual with good communication skills who works well with others and has an eagerness to help each student achieve his or her full potential. An unwavering professional demeanor is expected, and the skill to develop strong relationships is a must. Being a person that self-identifies (and that others describe) as a “happy” person, an emotionally intelligent person, a person with natural “situational awareness,” a person who feels comfortable in a school striving toward “Good to Great” management principles, a

“forward-looking” person, and a person who “plays well with others,” are all characteristics of the successful candidate.
