Position Description:

The Robotics Coordinator serves as the educational leader and is responsible for creating and sustaining a positive, safe, and innovative learning environment In collaboration with the SCIL Director and iDept Head, the RC will work with students and staff to support 'Iolani's Robotics program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Faculty member in iDept, teaching Robotics or Engineering or Innovation courses.
Serve as a resource for the robotics teams at ‘Iolani.
For each team, responsibilities include:
Being the official point-of-contact for external organizations (FIRST, Friends of Hawaii Robotics, etc.)
Managing event registration, rosters, and team financial accounts
Track and hold students accountable for attendance and participation
Developing competitive practices in all non-engineering aspects of the competition which impact overall team success (chairman’s award, team video, web site, outreach, etc.)
Work closely with team engineers and mentors to facilitate effective team operations
Ensure coordination and continuity between robotics students of all ages at ‘Iolani to create a consistent experience and pipeline between competition levels
Create a consistent brand / image for robotics at ‘Iolani (common team name, t-shirts, logos, etc.)
Publicize and raise awareness of ‘Iolani robotics both within the school and in the community. This includes encouraging community outreach, demonstrations, etc.
Manage a robotics @ ‘Iolani web site and ensure that it is updated regularly with team activities
Recruit and manage parent volunteers
Manage team travel

Education and Experience:

● Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Science/Engineering or equivalent experience
● Strong background in Secondary Science is preferred
● Experience creating processes and managing people
● Previous experience with the FIRST program required
