This position is responsible for maintaining and supporting our cloud-based SIS (Blackbaud), third-party integrations in Blackbaud, and other school-wide cloud-based applications supporting the business of Perelman Jewish Day School. The school database manager will troubleshoot technical problems, end-user issues, and recommend workflow improvements for every department interfacing with our school-wide applications. This position is an end-user-facing position requiring strong interpersonal skills to collaborate extensively with leaders throughout the organization. The school database manager ensures prompt and friendly support, advice, problem-solving, and informal training aimed at improving efficient workflows.

Routine duties:

  • Manage all aspects of the Blackbaud database, including third-party integrations and other data management systems.

  • Manage electronic records as they relate to Enrollment Management, Health, HR, Institutional Advancement, and other departments. At times, this may require supporting end-users from other departments with data entry/validation for records that are established outside of our systems.

  • Partner with school leaders to support the data/record needs of their departments.

  • Provide Tier 2 help desk support, primarily for the systems integrated into the SIS or other systems managing data.

  • Keep abreast of operational updates in core services and install/deploy updates, plug-ins, and patches.

Non-Routine duties:

  • Partner with the Director of Technology and Innovation to assess the systems needs of the school and make recommendations for future technologies

  • Investigate and install new systems as directed

  • Deprecate and retire old systems as directed

  • In partnership with the network manager, manage systems related to the security of our school data.

The ideal candidate will be familiar with independent school environments and will possess the following:

  • A friendly, open demeanor and genuine enthusiasm for user support and training.

  • Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm for learning new technologies rapidly.

  • Experience maintaining or managing Blackbaud. Other cloud-based SIS experiences will be considered.

  • Experience with the administration of Google Workspace. 

  • Experience generating reports and exports from databases.

  • Solid project management skills and outstanding attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex work carefully and accurately.

  • An ability to synthesize complex material and translate that information to end-users through relevant informal training.
