Odyssey is an independent, coeducational day school serving students in grades 6 through 8. Small by design, enrollment is limited to approximately 50 students. Odyssey offers challenging academics and a one-of-a-kind expeditionary learning program.

Position Description:
The School Operations & Technology Manager works in close partnership with the faculty and staff to ensure the effective and smooth operation of the school. The Manager organizes, directs and performs varied duties related to school administration, communications, event organization and technology management.

Reports To:
Assistant Head of School
Role Term:
Fulltime: 200 days per year/School Calendar days plus a lighter workload during school breaks and summer.

Responsibilities specific to this position:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Head of School

  • Support and coordinate student administration including student records, grades, transcripts, and high school application processes.

  • Support the Admissions Director in the admissions and enrollment process.

  • Lead and ensure effective and timely communications from and between the school and the school community (including families, board of trustees, prospective students and others.)

  • Coordinate the school calendar.

  • Maintain and regularly update the school website, and other social media.

  • Lead organization of key school events (including the school gala, Rites of Passage (graduation), parent evenings)

  • Support the Assistant Head of school in coordination of school expeditions and excursions.

  • Manage the school office and related responsibilities including coordinating contractors and day-to-day equipment, supply and facilities related issues, managing phone communications.

  • Manage technology, email and related computer systems for the school including

  • Maintaining an effective email system for all students, faculty, staff and board members including establishing email accounts for students, troubleshooting issues and ensuring security for the system.

  • Manage and maintain an effective online system for school academic management including grades, assignments etc.

  • Manage and maintain effective virtual tools so to facilitate online teaching and communications when necessary.

  • Manage and maintain school databases and information systems.

  • Support the Head of School, Assistant Head of School, staff and board of trustees with other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications and Abilities:

  • Experience working in school setting - enjoys working with middle school students.

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, utilize mature judgment and effectively prioritize and juggle multiple concurrent projects.

  • Experience managing school office and related administration tasks. Skilled in Microsoft office, communications software and other related software.

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills with diverse audience

  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate group events and meetings.

  • Experience managing institutional email and other technology systems.

  • Experience managing school management and education systems (such as Thinkwave, google classroom and/or others).

  • Experience with a broad range of communications tools, including websites.

  • Open to occasional evening and weekend hours.
