The Caedmon School (Pre-K through Grade 5), in New York City, is seeking an experienced, full-time Elementary Science/STEAM/Technology teacher, to start end of August/September 1, 2018. The school completely renovated the state of the art Science/STEAM Lab this summer.


The ideal candidate will be research-informed, seek collaboration, apply strong interpersonal and communication skills, and feel comfortable coaching colleagues as well as being coached as a member of a professional learning community. She or he has a passion for working with children and has a solid understanding of children's social, emotional, and academic developmental stages.  The candidate will also provide educational opportunities for parents.



  • A distinct fondness for working with children

  • Preferred - Master’s degree in elementary education; Additional coursework and professional development in science, STEAM, and technology is strongly desired

  • Successful, full-time K-5 classroom teaching experience, preferably with multiple grade levels

  • Ability to work constructively with individuals, both children and adults, and with teams of teachers

  • Ability to assess student needs and performance and to interpret results to inform instructional planning

  • Comfort and experience with social media


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote enhanced science and STEAM instruction and student learning, including differentiated instruction techniques, assessments, and materials

  • Teach Grades 1-5 Elementary Science, Grades 3-5 Technology, and develop and integrate STEAM learning into the current science curriculum.

  • Participate enthusiastically in Faculty Research Task Forces and committees

  • Pursue professional development vigorously
