HTS has an exciting full-time opportunity to join our team as our new Secondary Director of IT Systems. The successful candidate will join our community on August 27, 2020.

The Secondary Director of IT Systems is a creative and organized manager with a wide variety of experience in all fields of technology. A high level and highly collaborative role, he/she oversees the management of our network systems and internet access for HTS, oversees the needs of our front office and administrative teams, manages technical operations and support and ensures that help desk and other student, staff and parent support mechanisms related to information technology are addressed appropriately. The Director Of IT Systems, manages the goals and objectives and delegates to various supporting staff, including the IT Analyst and various contract roles.

Strong collaboration and support of the administrative team, in particular the ED of Learning Innovation and Technology is a major component of this role.

Experience, Education, and Qualifications

Coordinate with the Director of IT Systems and Senior Database Manager to:

  • Oversee the school network and related infrastructure. This includes internet infrastructure and the management and organization of our firewall and back-up systems.

  • Secure our technology and resources. Oversee inventory management.

  • Research and recommend hardware and complimentary software, particularly as it relates to the business functions of the school.

  • Review purchasing and assess budgets.

  • Purchase and secure delivery and management of technology resources for the school.

  • Review and make recommendations regarding risk management including, cybersecurity, physical and virtual asset management, and disaster planning.

  • Manage the IT Analyst. Lead and direct their accomplishments and goals. Delegate and train with a goal of building expertise and leadership capacity in managing our systems as well as contributing to the sustainability of our infrastructure.

  • Inform and train the IT team regarding changes to system design.

  • Oversee and delegate to team members to accomplish the following needs.

  • Plan and maintain the IT infrastructure, including server maintenance.

  • Support and maintain hardware throughout the school, including the innovation labs.

  • Document systems, passwords and disaster plans.

  • Perform system backups and recovery.

  • Monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity.

  • Work with third parties to install and manage items not covered internally.

  • Respond to technical needs for special events.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.

  • Mirror the responsibilities of our Director of IT Systems and Senior Database Manager. Be able to step into this role fully as needed with a comprehensive understanding of our school technology infrastructure.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Learning Innovation and Technology.
